An elected Board of Trustees and an Administrator who is appointed by the Board of Trustees administer the Putnam County Health Department. The offices of trustees are filled by the election of health department trustees who serve for a term of four years. The Election day for political subdivision officers is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in April each year, and is known as the general municipal Election Day. The opening date for filing for office is 8:00 am in the fifteenth Tuesday prior to an election. In the event that not enough candidates file, the county commissioners will appoint trustees to fill vacancies. Appointed trustees will serve until the next municipal elections, when a trustee will be elected to fill the remainder of the expiring term.
